Mountain Top, PA — Crestwood High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) proudly announces that Chapter President Avery Pisano has successfully completed her FBLA Capstone Project, titled “Housewarming for Heroes.” This impactful service initiative focused on supporting homeless veterans as they transition into stable housing.
As part of her project, Avery organized a large-scale donation drive to collect essential household items for veterans in need. Thanks to the generosity of the local community, she gathered enough supplies to assemble 50 housewarming baskets, each filled with items such as cleaning supplies, kitchen essentials, toiletries, and other necessities.
Donations were collected at several community events and locations, including the Crestwood High School Salute to Service football game, Jr. Comets football games, and classrooms at Crestwood High School. Community members contributed both household items and monetary donations to support the effort.
The completed baskets were delivered to the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center just in time for Veterans Day, where they will be distributed to formerly homeless veterans as they are placed into housing. Avery’s project ensures these veterans receive a warm welcome and the basic tools they need to begin their next chapter with dignity and stability.
“Avery’s leadership and compassion are evident in every part of this project,” said Crestwood FBLA adviser Christy Laubach. “Her dedication to serving those who have served our country reflects the core values of FBLA and the Crestwood community.”
FBLA’s Capstone Project encourages students to demonstrate leadership, organization, and community engagement. Avery’s “Housewarming for Heroes” initiative exemplifies the positive impact student leaders can have when they combine vision with meaningful action.
