Waverly FBLA hosts area meeting, dodge ball tournament

Approximately 120 FBLA members from five different chapters participated in a dodge ball tournament that was hosted by Waverly FBLA in Nebraska. The area meeting took place on Thursday, Nov. 15. Chapters in attendance were Ashland-Greenwood, Elmwood-Murdock, Fairbury, Gretna, and Waverly.

Daniel Homan, first vice president of Waverly FBLA, brought greetings on behalf of the chapter. Justin Schultis, Nebraska FBLA state president, spoke on the importance of communication skills.

The members were divided into nine teams as a result of a get acquainted activity. When the members arrived, they were given a card containing an animal sound they were to make from the card. To group members into teams, the members had to make only that sound to find the rest of their group. When the group had located all of its members, the members were to introduce themselves and indicate what school they were from. The teams were named by the animal sound they were to make such as cats, dogs, bears, pigs, ducks, and more. The teams had an opportunity to play at least two games. After the dodge ball play, refreshments were served.
