Barton College, located in Wilson, North Carolina, is a four-year, private, liberal arts college, providing students with a strong academic focus and opportunities for leadership development integrating an intentional application of collaborative learning in every aspect of the college experience.

The Barton College FBLA Scholarship is an annually renewable $1,000 tuition scholarship granted to a maximum of five entering (or transfer) students who demonstrate active participation in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) in high school or Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) at a former college. Competition for the scholarship is by invitation.

Upon enrollment at Barton College, the student must remain active in the local PBL chapter; participating in chapter activities at the local, state, and national levels.

Champlain College - New

Build Your Own Business (BYOBiz) FBLA Scholarship Program

Champlain College (http://www.champlain.edu) located in Burlington, Vermont offers a special scholarship for incoming first-year FBLA members. The BYOBiz/FBLA scholarship was established to support an FBLA student that either has developed and launched his/her own business or has an aptitude for entrepreneurship. Submissions will be evaluated based on the potential for success as evaluated by the scholarship committee.

Scholarship Award Award ranges from $3,000 up to $10,000 per year based on the applicants submission and the quality of their academic profile.

Cumberland University will provide up to five renewable $2,000 scholarships available to qualified FBLA members who enroll at Cumberland University.

Application Receipt Deadline: April 1.

Criteria:
   • Minimum high school grade point average of 3.25. A copy of high school transcript(s) must accompany the Application for FBLA Scholarship.
   • ACT score of 25 or above. A copy of the ACT score must accompany the Application.
   • Completed personal essay (see application).
   • Completed Application for FBLA Scholarship
   • Applications must be received by March 1, 2014. No applications will be considered after this date.

Selection Process:
Selection will be based on (1) the Application for FBLA Scholarship, (2) high school grade point average, (3) ACT score, and (4) personal essay.

Economics for Leaders (EFL)_logo

Economics for Leaders (EFL)

EFL is a selective summer program held on college campuses across the country. The week-long residential program is open to high school students who have completed their sophomore or junior year and teaches young leaders how to 1) develop the leadership skills necessary to succeed in the 21st century economy, 2) foster a commitment to continued learning about economics and leadership, and 3) become conversant with the economic concepts affecting the global economy.

EFL is a program of the Foundation for Teaching Economics, whose mission is to introduce young individuals, selected for their leadership potential, to an economic way of thinking about national and international issues. Most program expenses are cover by FTE: the only costs not covered are an administrative fee (site specific) and transportation to and from the site. FBLA Distinguished Business Leader Scholarship_logo

FBLA Distinguished Business Leader Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding FBLA members for their activity and involvement in the association. The number of scholarships given depends on yearly contributions to the FBLA scholarship fund.

Receipt Deadline: April 1

Individual Award: Minimum of $500; half will be awarded at the NLC and the other half upon joining Phi Beta Lambda.

Criteria: Open to graduating FBLA members who plan to pursue a post-secondary education and become actively involved in PBL at the postsecondary level.
   • Must be a dues-paid member of FBLA.
   • Must have achieved the Leader or America level of the Business Achievement Awards (BAA).
   • Must submit Distinguished Business Leader Interactive Scholarship Form (link is below).
   • The completed form and a one-page cover letter summarizing FBLA-PBL, business, leadership, and community activities, a resume outlining FBLA-PBL activities and educational achievements, and one letter of recommendation from a chapter adviser, a teacher, or a business/community leader must be submitted to the national center.
   • Applicants must submit four copies of the form and all accompanying documentation in four separate manila file folders labeled with the student’s name, school, and state. These materials must arrive at the National Center on or before April 1.

Gary E. West Tuition Assistance Scholarship—New

The Gary E. West College of Business at West Liberty University in northern West Virginia is pleased to offer the Gary E. West Tuition Assistance Scholarship to qualifying freshmen and transfer business students. This grant-funded scholarship provides up to $2,500 tuition credit annually for out-of-state students, renewable for four years as long as funds remain available. FBLA-PBL members interested in Accounting, Information Systems, Finance, Marketing, Management, Healthcare Management, Tourism and Event Planning, Sport Management, or Entrepreneurship are encouraged to apply at westliberty.edu/westbusiness/futurestudents/scholarships. West Scholarship funds can be combined with other university scholarship opportunities to meet tuition expenses. The Virtual Business Scholarship is an annual scholarship available to business, marketing, and personal finance students currently enrolled in their junior or senior year of high school throughout the country. To be eligible for nomination by their teachers, students must exhibit excellence in business, marketing or personal finance classes and show interest and accomplishment in the use of technologies within these subjects. One national winner will be selected and awarded $2,000.

Mount Ida College is pleased to offer scholarships to members of FBLA-PBL. Active members of FBLA-PBL shall be eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship toward their full-time undergraduate degree pursuit at Mount Ida College.

Eligibility: Active members of FBLA-PBL that are applying as either a new student or transfer student to study in any full-time undergraduate program of study at Mount Ida College shall be considered eligible for the FBLA-PBL scholarship.

Criteria: Students must be active members of FBLA-PBL and indicate their involvement on their application for admission. Students should include information about any leadership positions held and community service activities performed as a member of FBLA-PBL.

Application Deadline: Students that are accepted to Mount Ida College prior to May l each year shall be eligible for this scholarship.

National Technical Honor Society_logo

National Technical Honor Society

The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is pleased to continue our partnership with FBLA-PBL to recognize the outstanding achievements of students in career and technical education. NTHS awards over $160,000 in scholarships to its members annually and provides funding for two $1,000 scholarships exclusively for FBLA-PBL members. NTHS/FBL-PBLA members are also eligible to apply for the Jon H. Poteat Scholarship at www.nths.org.

Application Receipt Deadline: April 1

Eligibility: In 2014-15, NTHS offers two $1,000 scholarships exclusively to FBLA-PBL members who are also current NTHS members in good standing.

Criteria:

  • Applicants must be in 10th grade or higher.
  • Schools must have an active NTHS chapter for student eligibility.
  • A fully completed application must be submitted by the deadline date or forfeit eligibility.
  • Scholarship monies are held up to three (3) years to be used for post-secondary education.

NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards_logo
NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards

The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation provides nonrenewable scholarships each year ranging from $1,000 to $10,000.

Eligibility: Graduating high school seniors who will be entering their freshman year at an accredited two- or four-year school in the fall of 2015. Students must be able to demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit/initiative by owning or operating their own small business.

Criteria: The application process is in two phases. The first phase is an essay application, taking place October 2014 through December, 2014. If selected as a semi-finalist, interviews will take place late January through mid-March, 2015. Applicants may apply online at www.NFIB.com/YEA beginning October, 2014. Northwood University Business Club Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen who have displayed outstanding contributions to their high school business club. The scholarship is semi-noncompetitive and numerous scholarships are awarded yearly. The deadline is open.

Scholarship Amounts:
$4,000 ($1,000/year)Students must have a 2.7 GPA and submit a letter of recommendation from their advisor.

Eligibility: Requirements vary dependent on students eligibility for other institutional aid. Participation in a business club at Northwood University is required. Upon acceptance to Northwood University, please email your letter of recommendation to the campus of your choice.

Nova Southeastern University & Razor's Edge Leadership Scholarship Program

The students of FBLA are invited to apply for the Razors Edge Leadership Scholarship Program at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The Razors Edge Program is a highly competitive four year program looking for students who demonstrate a commitment to leading others and making an impact. The program is designed for students entering college as first time freshmen. Candidates must have the desire to continuously improve their leadership abilities and use their knowledge when taking on leadership roles on campus and beyond.

Students selected for the program, will receive a $10,000 scholarship annually for up to four years of continuous undergraduate enrollment at NSU. Program information and application are available at www.nova.edu/studentleadership/razorsedge.

Deadline: The Priority deadline is Friday, December 5th, 2014. Final deadline is Friday, January 9th, 2015.

Penn Commercial is offering one (1) scholarship for high school seniors who are members of FBLA entering an associate degree program of study at Penn Commercial Business/Technical School.

Application Deadline: March 31

Eligibility: Open to high school seniors meeting qualifications consisting of FBLA participation and past academic records as requested on the application form.

Award Amount: The FBLA scholarship will amount to 25% of tuition per quarter in the program being offered by the school. The recipient must maintain a 2.0 GPA and an 85% attendance record or the scholarship is forfeited. The award must be used within one year.

Application Deadline: March 6, 2015

Eligibility: Applicants must be a high school senior and an active member of FBLA to apply for the scholarship.

Criteria:
   • Recipients must apply their scholarship to either July 2015 or October 2015 PTI enrollment.
   • Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA to earn $6,000 partial tuition scholarship renewal for their second PTI year in the associate degree programs.

Risk Management and Insurance Scholarships

In an effort to inspire college and university students to study and pursue careers in risk management and insurance, The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation oversees multiple scholarship opportunities throughout the year.

Application Requirements:

  • A graduate or undergraduate student
  • Good academic standing
  • Major in insurance, risk management, or actuarial science or an interest in pursuing a career in an insurance-related field

University of the Ozarks provides two (2) $2,500 renewable scholarships for students who enroll as degree-seeking students in a bachelor’s degree program. Scholarships are automatically renewed each year for students who maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA.

Eligibility: Eligible students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and ACT score of 24. Applicants must submit a personal essay, and qualifying students must complete a personal interview before receiving the scholarship.

University of the Ozarks is a liberal arts college with a student population of about 600 in Clarksville, Arkansas. Ozarks offers degree programs in numerous liberal arts and preprofessional programs, including business and teacher education.

Webber International University Scholarship

This scholarship recognizes the involvement and activities of FBLA-PBL members. Webber International University (WIU) is offering fifteen (15) recurring $500 per semester scholarships to incoming FBLA students or active PBL members at WIU.

Application Deadline: Ongoing

Award Amount: $500 per semester, renewable

Eligibility: Open to any FBLA member enrolling at WIU. Applicants must be a dues-paid member of FBLA-PBL and must agree to be an active PBL member at WIU. WIU has set up a “Millionaire Points” program in which scholarship award winners must participate. Winners who qualify at PBL district competition will have their participation, room, and board paid at the PBL state competition. Winners qualifying at state will have their participation, room, and board paid at the PBL national competition. Scholarship award winners will be asked to sign a contract each year vowing their PBL participation.

Application Procedure: Applicants must complete the FBLA-PBL Scholarship Application Form and submit it with a letter of recommendation from their FBLA adviser. In addition, applicants must include a letter stating how or what contributions they could make to the WIU PBL chapter.

Wesleyan College Scholarship - New

Scholarship Award

The scholarship is valued at $9,000 toward tuition at Wesleyan College, and is renewable every year for four years, eight semesters, if the student remains in good standing and maintains a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.

Admissions & Eligibility
Eligible high school seniors and transfer students may apply for the Wesleyan FBLA scholarship if they have completed requirements for the America level of the FBLA Business Achievement Awards. Eligible scholarship candidates also should possess a minimum SAT score of 1000 (combined Critical Reading and Math) or an ACT score of 21 (Composite) and a high school GPA of 3.0.

To be considered, students must submit a completed Wesleyan College Undergraduate Admission Application, including high school and/or college transcripts, SAT/ACT scores, and letters of recommendation. To receive final scholarship award, recipients must submit a letter from FBLA stating completion of the America level of the FBLA Business Achievement Awards.
